Hardware and software, designed with you
Our development team at Tau designs electronics and embedded software, sets up the requirement specification together with you and guides the product through approval. We also redesign products you already make.

Rapid prototypes, then a 0-series
A dedicated NPI department with its own lines for prototypes. DFM advice and BOM analysis with SiliconExpert, then a 0-series that proves the process before the product moves to volume.

Seven automatic SMD lines
Fuji and Mycronic SMD lines, AOI, 3D X-ray, wave and selective soldering, coating and potting. Built to IPC class 2 and 3, from prototype series to high volume.

Five-axis machining, around the clock
A Fastems robot cell with 4- and 5-axis machining centres runs 24/7 at Notodden. Aluminium, stainless and acid-resistant steel, titanium, brass, bronze and POM, from prototypes to series.

Cable harnesses for defence and aerospace
Harnesses, multi-cables up to 10 metres, fibre optics from our own clean rooms and braiding for aerospace. Every harness is tested before it leaves us.

Assembled, tested and ready to ship
We assemble, test and package the finished product: FCT, burn-in, vibration and environmental testing, temperature and pressure testing. Parylene coating is done in-house at Notodden.

Import, export and customs, handled
Our logistics team handles import and export, with a dedicated customs specialist. We also pack and send worldwide on behalf of clients, such as online stores.

Defence & Aerospace
Built for programmes where documentation matters as much as the part.
- EN 9100:2018 (AS9100D) certified production at Westcontrol Berget, one of few manufacturers in Norway with this certification.
- Industrial cooperation with Boeing since 2020, and new investments in equipment at both Notodden factories as part of it.
- Cables from Notodden go into products at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
Maritime & Subsea
Electronics that keep working with salt, vibration and pressure around them.
- Maritime roots since 1946, when Robertson in Egersund started making radio equipment for the fishing fleet.
- Coating, potting and pressure testing for electronics in harsh environments.
- Machining in titanium and acid-resistant steel.
Energy & Green tech
Volume production for electrification and energy management.
- The Tau factory has industrialised and produced large series of electronics for electrification, such as EV chargers and IoT units.
- Seven automatic SMD lines give room for high volumes.
